LOVE COTTON CANDY CLOUDS |
The return trip went well considering I had close to 200 lbs of luggage between 3 suitcases and a briefcase carry on full of Drugs and Supplements. I went right to my new place in Reforma, where Carol was already there to let the Taxi in the Gate and drop the luggage. Only 1 broken jar and a picture frame, which I had replaced.
We had breakfast at Pan AM with my favorite Benedict.
Happy Hour on the rooftop next to the Santa Domingo Church...then some wandering around to get back in the swing.
So nice to be back....

One of the nicest Restaurants in Oaxaca is Los Danzantes. They offer a Comida..(complete meal) on Wednesdays with Reservations only for 300 pesos or $15. This time was featuring all Fresh Mushrooms from the Oaxacan forests that are in season now. Our friend Kathryn made us reservations and we all enjoyed a great lunch.
It was my birthday so after lunch we went for Happy Hour to celebrate. Our favorite view across from the church and another wedding! Then the Tuna show up. A musical tradition that started in Europe when university students formed a Tuna group of musicians that would travel around the community playing for money to help pay for their living costs. University Tuna. This group is the Oaxacans that travel all over the world entertaining...especially in Spain, France , Portugal, Germany and England. The patches on the robes represent each University they played at. I first encountered Tuna in Salamanca Spain which is one of the oldest Universities in the world. Later I joined another Tuna group in Madrid for a party in honor of one of them who passed away.

Tuna de la URSE came, we saw, and two days ago they conquered La Tuna de Monte de Madrid (Spain) and La Tuna de Derecho de San MartÃn de Porres (Peru) — winning the Gran Final Internacional de Tunas Universitarias competition. ¡Felicidades!
A few days later I received an invite to view a house for rent. We were to meet the realtor near a restaurant called ANCESTRAL...so we made reservations and had dinner then met the realtor to see the house.

The house was way too big and on the side of a mountain.
Carol wanted to do something really special for my Birthday so she booked reservations for us at CRUDO. A Sushi (Mexican Style) Bar with 6 seats.
I left around 3pm for our early afternoon four o'clock reservation. I noticed a familiar face while walking to meet Carol.
I was my "homeless street" neighbor getting his rest when and where he could.
He has mental problems but bothers no one, doesn't speak, and lives exactly how you see him.

There were two other couples at the restaurant. One couple were tourists from Mexico visiting Oaxaca and the other couple were Chefs at Casa Oaxaca, one of the best restaurants in Oaxaca. The owner Chef had worked in LA at one of the best Sushi Restaurants but thought it needed a Mexican touch. The sushi was wrapped in Nori and eaten similar to a taco...with your hands. Most ingredients were local seasonings and fresh seafood.
Japanese Beer or Saki accompanied the meal. We left very pleased..not a meal you would have everyday but a real treat.

On the way back a wedding was in full swing.
Another day in Paradise. I will cut this now before it becomes epic.
