4/5 23 BACK IN THE USA

Well, it has been almost 3 weeks of doctor appointments and tests that I hope to never do again...very exhausting. I still have lots more to go but later this week I will be off to visit my daughter Heather, Allen her partner and the grand children. Hope to see the Getty Museum in Malibu also.  I had worked there for a couple days as a training program prior to my position as Food Service Manager at the Palo Verde Nuclear plant feeding the construction workers 24/7...many years ago.  The Getty is one of the finest museums in the world.

Yesterday I played 18 holes of golf with Marjorie, my dear friend. Both of us didn't bother to keep score but had a good time chasing balls.  I did get a Birdie when I drove the ball on to the green near hole...then put it in!

Victory Pose

I didn't take photos much while playing but this is Marjorie my dear friend who...I think would have beat me if we kept score.
Speaking of dear friends, Jeannie belongs there as well and deserves credit for opening her doors to me, checking my mail, picking up scripts, even fixing a nice salad and dinner. I am blessed with giving, loving friends. Nothing could be more satisfying at this time or any time for me

I met Roman, my Grandson, and his friend Diallo with his dog Bentley at the Vig Restaurant for late lunch. I had the Mahi Mahi Fish sandwich, Roman his usual Cheeseburger and Diallo the Blue Crab and Shrimp Enchiladas.  We had a really nice time and the food was great.

Happy Hour at the Roaring Fork...

LINE OF ALL US RETIRED FOLKS...LOBBY IS FULL AWAITING THE BELL TO RING AND THE RUSH FOR SEATS.
I did have a salad and Chicken Bites...very good as usual.

VA annual check up with Dr Nanda.  In and out with follow up for my Hearing Aides check up in 2 weeks.

Too long of a wait for this person.

My dear friend Jeannie and I went back to R. Fork for dinner at Happy Hour and sat outside for Salad and Chicken bites, Guacamole, and Chicken Flatbread ...all with wine..
She drove me the airport the next morning where I waited while Southwest informed us our plane was delayed over an hour. I ate instant Oatmeal and Cappuccino at the Coffee Cartel. Selfie revealed I did not have my jacket on correctly. It was direct flight and finally arrived with Heather waiting at Burbank where the pickup area was for both arrivals AND departures...a real mess. She planned a trip to Griffin Observatory that evening with the family.

Heather stopped at "Juicy Ladies" for a Salad to split until dinner.

Lovely house of theirs, where I felt welcome and comfortable.
Later Heather served a delicious Vegetable Beef Soup then took me for an evening walk in the area.

Interesting Vine fence that was recently cut back from the sidewalk.  A very eclectic neighborhood. A joy to walk. I went for wine at Smart and Final and ran into Ellis, my grandson, coming back from work there. He accompanied me where I met her supervisor.
he has been working at her first job two months and loves it. We all remember our first real job?
Off to Griffin Observatory along with what seemed half of LA.

TAKEN WITH MY CAMERA..CRESENT MOON

We skipped the line and chose to go inside where episodes of Star Trek were filmed...

Earth is upper left corner small ball then Jupiter and Saturn.
We left and returned home.

The next morning, Allen had to pickup some Cannabis Gummies for a friend with PTSD. The friend is not mobile so Allen buys him a 3 month supply of assorted Edibles for him. We went to a California Co-op called the SYNDICATE, a chain of maybe 5 stores, that Allen had never visited.  Quite classy and an unbelievable selection of Cannabis snacks, chips, candies, brownies, cookies, etc.

We left for home then to the Getty Museum in Malibu.

On the road again.  A wonderful day and not the place I trained for a couple days.  This is the "MUSEUM"!  When I worked there in 1979, the museum was in the Getty Villa. A re-creation of a Villa in Pompei Italy before Mt Vesuvius buried the city in Ash.  After I left they decided to build a real museum.  I thought the Villa would be part of it but they are two separate places.  We will dine at the Getty Villa on Wednesday. I liked this one but the Getty Museum at the Villa was and maybe still is first class...like the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
I did enjoy the magnificent floral gardens today.

We started off Sunday going to see Rev. Michael Beckwith at the Beverly Hills Saban Theatre, Temple of the Arts where he held "New Age" Sunday service. He was a good motivational speaker that combined talented singers and musicians to produce uplifting  entertainment to start the day.

After the performance we stopped for "Ice Cream" and coffee made with coconuts. Delicious. I had Grapefruit Ice Cream. One scoop  for $8.

                            Now off for Venice Beach....

Returned for Baby Back Pork Ribs, Slaw, Gluten free Corn Bread...and Wine. Had a great night's sleep.

Today Chase, Allen and I decided to try our hand at Tennis. Chase is playing in his Freshman year in H.S. and loves it. Heather takes photos for us.

If I appear to be uncoordinated...there is a reason for that.
We all left exhausted from chasing balls but satisfied.  Later when we returned, I went for a walk to the Peasant Restaurant.

$20 and ONE glass of wine later....I returned to my family and a nice dinner of leftover Ribs and Soup...delicious.

Today Kenny, a travel friend I have not seen in 3-4 years, is stopping by to pick me up for dinner and to show me some of his neighborhood in West Hollywood.
We parked his car at his apartment complex and walked to the restaurant.

After a wonderful meal we returned to his apartment and I noticed his piano as we were leaving for the ride home.  I never knew he started playing at 5 years old, so he played a classical piece for me.

The next day Heather took me to the Getty Villa, which was the place I did work for a couple days in 1979 but nothing like it is today.
