Cemetery Serenade . click.
There were a few more days to the Day of the Dead Celebrations, with people still visiting their loved ones at night in the Cemeteries, along with Rockets still going off. I missed the parades amid so many tourists, but life is returning to normal in Oaxaca, and Thanksgiving is coming up. Fall New York State photos from friends.
Southwest US photos of Halloween...
Sunday, I returned after 2 months to Casa Celia for some tasty Chicken Soup and Beet Salad...very good. Started the day with some photos from the street.
The following day I ate next door at a reopened Mexican Restaurant with a different owner. The Ceviche was excellent but minimal expensive menu.
This morning I walked to Cabouche, a consistently excellent restaurant, for breakfast.
Great sunrise. Sushi calls for late lunch at Yuku's.
Outstanding
I returned to EDO for more Sushi. I love their Don Burra.
It was chilly this morning and stayed that way throughout the day. Warm clothes, but not many restaurants with heat. Del Jardin was sheltered from the wind and insulated somewhat, and their Chicken Soup, along with Chicken Enchiladas, was hot and delicious.
A snowbird friend from Washington state joined me, and we visited Gaby, who leaves tomorrow for an angioplasty in Mexico City. We wished her well. It's been four days now, and she hasn't returned or emailed.
Veteran's Day snuck up on me. I was feeling down sitting around, so I headed for Tres Bistro and my long-time bartender friend Alfredo, for a Salmon dinner and a Brandy. I sent best to Vet friends John and Carla. They invited me over, so after my excellent meal, I taxied to Jalaltco and had a toast with two of my favorite Marines who are still in love after many years of marriage!
I returned home feeling terrific inside and out.
I prepared natto (fermented soybeans) and made a batch of American Chile Con Carne this afternoon. I went to Cafe Elfo for a salad while the beans were still cooking. I was approached by a lady from Florida who has been reading my blog for years and recognized me. I had met her before. She turned out to be a friend of a close acquaintance I had met teaching English in Spain over 16 years ago. I guessed that Cathy had told her about my blog after her visit to Oaxaca about 12 years ago. We enjoyed a glass of wine while I had my salad, then she came up to see my apartment before returning home.
2014Today I had dinner at Yuku...Juan served me Mexican Roll with Meat instead of Fish and it was delicious!
I met Pattie at Sur y Norte for a glass of wine while we watched the weddings at the Cathedral across the street. One after another. Big money.
They are toasting with Mezcal. He has Mezcal in both hands!
Next wedding party is going to the Church.

Pattie and I had breakfast at Hotel Hildago the next morning before I went to my Pool game with the boys.
Dinner at Del Jardin...Special of the Day... no photo, but tried to cut the Corn kernels off the piece of Corn in the soup and slipped. Got my shirt covered in soup!
Del Jardin
Gaby, my neighbor with a recent hip replacement and back problems from an operation over a year ago, was experiencing Angina and was taken to the hospital. The cardiologist sent her to Mexico City for an Angioplasty and ended up returning with her son Nemo and two stents. Nemo stayed with me for a couple of nights he was here, then his brother arrived to stay with Gaby while she followed up on Doctor visits and recuperated.
EDO Snack
Fun Pool with John, my H.S. classmate, and Finn from Iceland.
Maddie and I enjoyed our Dominos. Harley and Linda my new neighbors joined us. After, I left for my Doctor's appointment with Maddie along to help with Spanish if necessary. He was great.
We went to a nice Seafood restaraurnt for lunch after. Costa Bravo. Maddie had the shrimp and I the Red Snapper Veracruz.
We met again on Thankgiving Day to take the shuttle to our Thanksgiving Dinner day. John, Carla the the Jimenez family were waiting for us on arrival. We had a wonderful dinner and music then returned. It was a full house and nice dinner.
Juan got up and thanked everyone before for Music started. Thanksgiving!
