22 - 4 OAXACA THEN TO SELL CONDO IN SCOTTSDALE

I cut the last blog short of departure to protect what I had already posted, because of a glitch in the program. I leave in three more days.  Yesterday I had lunch with Chris who immigrated here from Phoenix a few years ago.  After lunch we stopped at a home he is remodeling that is not far from my home in Oaxaca.  I may be needing a bigger place when I return from selling my condo and leaving Arizona after 44 years!!  Chris also showed me where he rents.  It is in the same area.  I may consider it when he moves this or next year.

I have been going to bed early and this morning I rose at 4:30 am.  I am trying to adjust so I don't oversleep the morning of my departure.  Sleeping through an alarm on departure and missing the flight is my biggest dread. Today I drop off and pick up my laundry then pack one empty suitcase into another empty suitcase.

HAPPY HOUR

LIBRARY VISIT

My grandsons have been very helpful by taking some of my stuff. Roman went out of his way to have my car ready on arrival.  I attended his graduation from School.  His adopted father David and his new wife flew in from Florida for the ceremony which was very nice. We went out for breakfast the next day and got time to visit.  It was so nice to see David and meet his new wife.   Roman's father's family from Arizona were in attendance and arranged a celebratory lunch after.  It was on the Westside and I didn't know about it until they invited me so went home instead.  They were very polite, friendly and his Grandmother gave me a big hug.  I hope to see more of them.  I had to go to the "boys" room first.

David and his lovely wife.

Ya made it!

Carol and Maryanne at the Chicago Bar for Blues

Our Visit to the University Art Museum

Daniel taking the class on Tour

The Parish for NOLA Oyster Po'Boy and Gumbo..mmm

We drove to Tucson and stayed with Daniel and Maryanne for a couple nights.  It was a break from this tedious sorting of papers, clothes, books, photos, and "stuff". The first day with ate at a Vietnamese restaurant on my suggestion.  We picked one close by that may have been good...but wasn't.

Then next day we visited the University Art Museum,  had a wonderful lunch at Parish, a NOLA restaurant.  My Oyster Po'Boy was very good but not as good as Taylor's Chowder House.  Gumbo was OK but not as good as Taylor's.  Inflation has also made the price double.  We had a good time and decided to venture out to catch some night life.  A first in a loooonnnggg time.  Chicago Bar featured a great Blues Band so we sat through the first set and I bought some Cauliflower with Cheese from a food truck outside in the parking lot for a snack with an IPA beer.  Times have changed.   Daniel and I have know each other for over 40 years...seems like yesterday.  Carol enjoyed meeting them and we both had a wonderful time.  Maryanne and Dan were fun hosts.  The conversation and sharing good times was very special.

We left early the next morning but ran into a blockage on I-10 when a tractor trailer truck rear ended a van and it looked like a fire ensued.  Pieces of the car and truck were strewn for hundreds of yards in every direction.  It took an extra hour to get past it all.  Bodies were still awaiting the trip to the morgue.

VA Doctor took 4 blood tests and all were good.  No need to visit until next year.

Visit to BEG Bakery for Butter, Egg, and Gluten free Muffins

VA Audiologist tested me and issued new top of the line Hearing Aides to improve my hearing at just the right time.  It is so bad I go back next week for a Cochlear Implant explanation and consideration for future loss.  I am very happy with my new aides.  Excellent.  The VA has been great for me.

Visit to the Mall

Got my glasses ordered, so should arrive before I leave.

Dermatologist, Dentist, and PCP next...then I am done until September when I return for 2 Cardio tests and carry back more belongings.

A ride to the Country and a Visit to CareFree for lunch.

Mom's Birthday came and went but Jennifer and my Great Granddaughter visited her gave to wish her well and honor her.

Carol and I have been doing our usual Happy Hour's and dining out.  This week we drive to California and stay at Glen Eden for 4 days while visiting Heather, my daughter, and Allen her partner and their family.  Looking forward to that!  We then travel to Vegas the following week for a Show at New York, New York Casino called Mad NY by Cirque O'Lei .  We will see Danny Kean the "Traveling Piano Man" and his dog Moe. Dinner with them the first night then a trip to the Valley of Fire with them for the day.  The last day we have lunch with Mike , my long time (40 years) friend from Phoenix that moved to Vegas to open a successful catering business and is now retired. We see the show that night and return the next day.

Then we fly into Lubbock Texas to visit Carol's daughter and friends while also taking a side trip to visit my Uncle in San Angelo where we will visit the San Angelo Fine Arts Museum of which he is the Curator of over 25 years.

I am having problems with this blog entry so will publish it and start a new post....with a train ride to Colorado in Phoenix Arizona!
