Still the end of April and a full moon. I left for EDO and a Corn and Shrimp Roll. Perfect place to get a photo of the moon too.
It is May 1st, a big workers holiday in Oaxaca...a Protest Demonstration at the Zocalo with Parade following. Very hot today. Many are home staying by the fan. I had a lemonade and cake then returned after my walking exercise. Around 6 pm Kingfish left for his Friday Fish Fix but El Jicara was closed so I was passing Tomas's Cantina when Orlando, speaking in good English explained Tomas just gave the Bar operation in the Cantina to him to run for free and would I like to see it. The bar had 10 comfortable seats, all empty but I noted the bar was still to high for the seats. So I sat at a table and ordered the fish special. NO FISH on Friday...only Shrimp. The menu was a bar menu and because of the holiday they weren't serving their regular dinners but had live loud entertainment. The band was good. Orlando was friendly, likeable and suggested the Shrimp Cocktail and a glass of wine. SOLD. The lovely waitress brought me a nice glass of wine, roasted peanuts with fresh limes, some Crackers and Chips, surprisingly good Oaxaca Cheese cold and cut into pieces to accompany my wine. The Mexican Shrimp Cocktail was one of the best I've had with over 10 delicious shrimp mixed with Avocado in a mildly spicy sauce. People were dancing and the music turned out to be great. I was still a bit hungry so ordered another glass of wine with a free Tapa's of Roast Pork with rice and a spicy gravy.
