I returned to Edo last night to try more of their menu.
I met Roberto, a Corporate Executive Chef who covers the East Coast of the U.S. and travels a lot. He will be back again! Service was a little slow, but the rewards were worth it.
Dominos Day with Maddie home from her U.S. trip. We visited Cathedral Restaurant for the Chili Nogada special that included a glass of wine. This was excellent...the best Chili Nogada I have had.
My grandson Ellis with Sandra...my good friend from Arcata,California. He just arrived to start his third year of college, and Sandra has been helping him a bit.
Edo was closed on Monday, so I returned to Tasty Vin in Jalaltco for my Salmon... always good.
Botus...take me with you!
Tuesday, I returned to Edo and tried their Salmon. The owner came to my table to see how I was enjoying my meal and to let me know that it was Norwegian Salmon. I told him it was overcooked and a bit dry, but had a nice flavor.
Returned again to try the Chicken and Roasted Vegetables.
Rock and Roll with Fried Shrimp on Top...a good meal!
Delicious Chicken Breast with Roasted Vegetables.
Today I am attending Vincent's Philosophy Gathering with the subject being Creativity.
Vincent does an excellent job as a Moderator...quite interesting!
Returning to EDO, I tried another Sushi Roll, then the Best Sea Bass I have had in Oaxaca. So fresh, moist, and flavorful! Going back tomorrow for more.
I returned that evening to have an appetizer of Goza and to complement his Curry. Then returned to EDO to have one Sushi Roll. Nice Tesla parked in Front, if you like that style.
Corn on the Cob guy or Tamale...I forgot, but last time it was good! Not before dinner though.
This was the "EDO" Sushi Roll...very filling and good.
I fasted the next day for 14 hours, then did a photo walk and had a light lunch of Fruit, Gelatin, and Cottage Cheese.
This is the 215th Independencia de Mexico, so all this week has been full of entertainment, book stalls, Vinyl Record stalls, and Mexican memorabilia stands.
I finished packing today and tried to get my boarding pass but was notified that I had to show up in person even though American Air has my Passport copy, TSA info, all my stats and I even sent them my reasons for going, where I was to stay and where I was going after...this is the new government regulation American claims is not their doing. Twice now, I have had to do this when entering the country I am a citizen of!
I've cleaned out the refrigerator so visited Cabouche for lunch.
A salad with Cucumbers, Beets, Sunflower Seeds, Black and White Sesame Seeds, Carrots, Jicama, Apples, Lettuce, Pomegranate Seeds, and Amaranth.
Fettuccini with Mushrooms, Dried Tomatoes, Cobra Cheese, and a delicious sauce. It was $8 and included the best coffee or cake. I chose the coffee. Hugo, my taxi driver will pick me up tomorrow so I can be at the airport EARLY TO STAND IN LINE FOR MY BOARDING PASS. I ordered these tickets two months ago and never had a problem with getting a boarding pass on line when going to the states. Off to Phoenix...ta ta.
The next morning I was outside at 11am looking for Hugo and my taxi. When I went to call him, I noticed a text message that he was unable to come and if I wanted, he could have a lady pick me up...well it is pick up time NOW so I grabbed a taxi and arrived on time to pick up the boarding passes. I inquired as to why I could not get them on the Internet and she said there have been problems for the last two months but took my bag and I was at the gate when they boarded.
A few hours later we arrived in Dallas and going through customs then picking up the bags to transfer to my next flight. We waited 45 minutes!! My plane was boarding already and I didn't know what gate it was at because there was no arrival/departure information at baggage claim. Again I am running to drop of the bag then find my gate and like the last time, I was the LAST to board! Travel is stressful.Sunset

I arrived in Phoenix on time and picked up my bag then headed for the Airport train to take me to my Intsarent Car agent, the last stop. There I had to go to the car park below and wait for their shuttle to pick us up. There was one other NU Rental also. I called and got a recording saying my shuttle would arrive in 5 minutes. A large van picked us all up and took us to Van Buren and 24th St to Nu Rent. I was 3rd in line but after getting there I was told I was at the wrong place and has to return with the shuttle.
I called the Intsarent again and got a recording, then after I hung up, a phone call from them telling me that not enough people returned their cars so they had no car to give me but I could call Priceline and tell them what happened and they will refund my money. I want a car!
I ran back to NU Rental and asks if they had a car. They did but now the line was 10 people and still only one cashier. An hour and a half later I got to the cashier and he informed me the cheapest car he had was now $750 not $320 but it is almost midnight and I agreed but when we put my Credit Card in...declined! I thought I had 10K credit but only had $2000 and bought air tickets and admission to a show in Vegas the day before which left me with $21 credit.
Uber took me to Clancy's for a burger before bed. Cost $21 with tip. Uber then took me down the street to Anita's house for $6 with tip. Everyone was asleep after midnight, so I did the same.
I called Uber in the morning to take me for my 8:30 am lab tests then waited 10 minutes and took me across town in time for my 9:30 appointment for my new hearing aids. $76 dollars plus tip! Worth it to have my new aids.
Uber took me back to the clinic $23 for my annual check up with my Doctor at 1:15. Uber then took me back home after for $12 . I went to sleep and woke at 5 pm with a dinner plate on the stove keeping my meal warm. Stephanie and Joe made me a wonderful baked sweet potato and Baked Chicken with a salad! The best thing to happen since I left Oaxaca.
The next morning I was enjoying Joe's coffee when he handed me the keys to Anita's car. He called her and asked for me. New Caddie sitting outside for my use! Wow. I ran out and drove to my Urologist visit. In and out in 30 minutes, then to Costco to stock up on Supplements, on to Dermatologist...all OK.

Back to meet Marjorie for Happy Hour at Nobu. She drove. They didn't open for another 20 minutes so we couldn't wait in the 110% heat so went to Zynce for a wine and tapas before returning to Nobu to try them out. Both were expensive and not that great. She dropped me off and I read a bit before bed.
Today I went to the Post Office to verify my identity so I can access my Social Security account, VA, and U.S. Government for Passport, global entry etc. In Oaxaca I got notified I had to do that because they didn't know me after 79 years? The postmaster confirmed I was David.
I closed my Bank of America account and took everything in my Safety Deposit Box, visit AT&T to fix my Voicemail but have to return again because they didn't really fix it. Walmart to get a razor because the blades I bought a Costco were for a different razor. Tried to get a eye prescription for new glasses but Doctor was out till Monday and couldn't have them ready in a week before I left. Covid shots were only available through prescriptions and my Cigna provider had none to give me...said there was no demand? I called him to call the prescription in to Walmart and they said it may take a week or more? What is going on?
My request was filled and I could go in anytime for the shot. Friday, last night, I booked an Uber but the pickup area was the BACK gate on another block. I looked at the Map and thought it the front gate since I never use the Back Gate but after I was standing in the 100% Sun I received a message that my driver was waiting for me at the back gate. I told him to come to the front gate and he cancelled and UBER charged me $25 for the cancellation! I called Lyft and he showed up in 5 minutes and took us 1/2 hour to get to the Dubliner where I met Bruce, a long time friend and Vince an old drinking buddy.
Don't bogart that joint my friend.
Don't bogart that joint my friend.
Bruce and I had dinner and after the 3 of us caught up on the last 2-3 years, old friends that have passed away, ex-lady friends we used to drink with at the Dubliner, I took Uber back home and Bruce took the back roads home. I had 2 wines, 2 Guinness's and a shot of Jamison's Irish Whiskey! It felt good to be bad! In the "old days" I would have continued the drinking until the band finished at 1:30 am and then drove home! Thank God that is over. While we were waiting for my Uber, Bruce and I were chatting out front about the times we would smoke a joint. Then James came over and handed us a lit joint to share! Another Homerun! Great finish to a special night. That was it for the end of the night Shortly after, my ride arrived. Tonight was the most I drank in one sitting for the last 5 or more years! I really did enjoy the comraderies but not waking this morning!
I got my Covid shot this morning and breakfast at Randy's. Then I stopped at the library to use this computer and update my Library Card and membership with Kanopy. That gives me use of all of the video library's Movies, etc. from my base in Mexico. FREE. It is a great channel! Off to visit my Master Barber Manny! Not until Tuesday...got to make appointment for the Master. Worth it.
Marjorie and I met for another Happy Hour at Grassroots. I had some Norwegian Salmon and she had Diver Scallops.
Today I stopped at the library to use the computer. Scottsdale has a beautiful park area near the government buildings and the library. Later Marjorie picked me up for Dinner. Our place was Pizza so they suggest Fellows across the street. We had lovely salads then shared a fresh made Pasta Shrimp and Scallop dish before returning home,
Missed photo of the Scampi but the bathrooms were shared and nice!
This evening I took Lyft to Roaring Fork for the "Big Ass Burger"
Very quiet driver...never saw him? Burger was great as usual.

This morning I visited Manny my Master Barber to get scalped. He has the biggest collection of Marilyn Monroe Memorabilia.
Makes me want to cuddle...if I remember how??
I went for a walk this morning then ran some errands. I met my Oldest Grandson, Roman, at Cafe Boa for lunch. We hadn't seen each other in a year or more. Food was great and it was nice to touch base. We will go out again before I leave for Buffalo.
This evening Jeannie and I went to Grassroots for Happy Hour/Dinner. I had the Chicken Waldorf Salad...excellent. Jeannie had my standby, Nordic Salmon with Caesar Salad. Enjoyed catching up on her recent return from England and PARIS.

It was 2 :30 when we arrived at the airport. Our plane was delayed till 4:20, then 5, 6, 10 pm. We waited 8 hours in the airport before the plane took off. We had dinner there and walked in circles a lot to pass the time. I got to bed around 12:30 and up at 6:30. We did have a nice time?!
Today I hope Roman, Jeannie and Marjorie will meet with me at Grassroots. Tomorrow I get my boarding pass, wash the car, etc. Today I did my laundry and this blog, which I will forward to you tomorrow.
We did meet and celebrated but NO PHOTO of the event...except the food.
My Rack of Baby Back Pork Ribs with Slaw...after my Pork belly appetizer.
Roman's Short Ribs with Grits
Marjorie's Cobb Salad.
Roman and I had the best Key Lime Pie...I have ever tasted.
I was still tired from lack of sleep so fell down on the job...sorry.
Off to Buffalo tomorrow morning.
