25 - 7 JULY IN OAXACA DE JUAREZ

The first day of July, and I have no hot water.  It takes at least 3 minutes for the hot water to reach my shower from the rooftop, where the heater is located. I wasted two days' worth of water waiting for it to get hot, only to discover that someone had shut it off completely, so I had to go up in the rain to try and light it.  I'm not upset, though; I'm just a bit frustrated.  Time to go to the market while my water heats up.

On Tuesday, I visited the Reforma Street Market for fresh vegetables and fruit. Sweet Potatoes, both cooked and uncooked, watermelon, Kiwis, Carrots, Onion, Celery, etc.

I stopped at Pan AM to get some breakfast, but missed it by 15 minutes, so I hauled my groceries home.

The next day, I decided to use a delivery service for meals, groceries, liquor, and other essentials. I signed up for Rappi but allowed them to recognize my location. When I tried to enter my address, they already had one that was close but incorrect. I changed it and placed an order for liquor and an order for lunch with Aquacate. Later, I received a notice that the liquor delivery agent had waited for half an hour while texting me, so the order was canceled; however, I was still charged for it.

My instructions for the delivery were to ring the bell upon arrival. He had a photo of a fountain a block away as his drop-off point, which was a street corner, not a house with a bell. The delivery for lunch was the same, but he didn't have the correct address either, and I never received it despite it being paid for on pickup. I went to Aquacate since it was late afternoon, and I had no breakfast. They said the order was not returned, and there was nothing I could do but pay and place another order. I did. I took a taxi from there to the liquor store to pick up my order that hadn't been delivered and hadn't been returned, although Rappi said it had.

I hired Vince, my neighbor who knows Spanish and is proficient with computers, to help me. Rappi told us they could not return my money because it had already been paid to the supplier, and I had to go there. I explained that I did, and it was not, and neither order was returned. I understood the lunch order, but not the liquor, as the bill was over $80, and I found out the delivery person was Keivin Alexis. I told them I was contacting the police and pressing charges because he lied about returning it and stole it instead. That is the last I heard, but the Liquor store gave me their delivery contact for future use. Another lesson learned? Maybe.

Today is the 4th of July, and I've been waiting for an Amazon delivery and for Raphael to repair the burners on my stove. Time to leave and hope these will be taken care of when I return.

Wonderful gathering and meal.  Returned home to find a note that Amazon was unable to deliver as no one answered the bell. They will deliver on Monday. Raphael never showed.

I went for a photo walk, breakfast, and I bit of shopping today.

Dog walkers were also out this morning.

Trash collector and street sweeper returning home. They work hard.

Had to get a chocolate bar.

With the rain, we have water back in the fountains.

Nice fresh organic Kale and Chard

                                LIBERTY ASHAMED?
Floods in Kerrville, where my Uncle Howard resides (his new retirement home is on a hill a mile away, so he is fine), Rodesa, North Carolina, etc; were referred to as 200 year floods by POTUS. Guess he hasn't heard of our Climate Emergency...and never mentions it. His new head of Emergency Relief enacted a new rule: If the emergency is over $100,000, she has to give approval.  It was two hours after Kerrville asked for permission to evacuate that she responded. Oaxaca has been blessed with rain this season. It cools the summer and brings us much-needed water.

Domino's day, and I suffered another defeat to Maddie, but it was close. We taxied to Casa del la Chef for Fresh Salmon with Greek Salad. After our Papaya appetizer, I forgot to take photos again.
Today was my first time back to Kintaro Japanese Restaurant that I so enjoy.  My waiter Diego welcomed me back and asked about my trip. I had an excellent meal and service, as always.

A wish tree.  Write down your wish and hope it comes true. Bueno Suarte!

This says...Do not miss the Sake!

Another TastaVin Tapas Bar and Restaurant opened closer to me in Jalaltco.  I went there to eat today and found it open to outdoors, lighter, more seating capacity, same friendly service and food.

I forgot to photo the food AGAIN! Should I wait and order my wine with the meal?

Oaxaca is prepping for the onslaught of tourists who attend the week-long Guelagetza Festival. Suspense builds as the unveiling of the new addition approaches.

While waiting and watching for my Prissa Liquor order over the phone, I noticed that the original artist of our wall mural was retouching and adding mushrooms, with the help of another artist friend. My order arrived! I'm getting the knack of ordering on the phone vs walking so far, then taking a taxi back. I took a photo of the artists hurrying to complete the Mural before the rain came, then headed for Norte y Sur, another 1st return after the trip, for dinner.

                           Cauliflower Tacos and Guacamole!
When I returned, the artists asked me for more water to mix with their paints. I ran upstairs and brought back the water and my recent trip photos of Europe's wall murals I took at the Amsterdam Street Museum and the streets of various cities I visited. Noting that they were busy finishing before the rain, I gave them my blog address so they could look up the trip and see the murals at their leisure.

Speaking of Wall Murals...the Statue of Liberty photo I posted came from a blog called Behind the Walls on Substack.com and was plagiarized.
